ABOUT OUR PERFORMANCE SPACES

The Harry J. Elam, Jr. Theater

The Harry J. Elam, Jr. Theater (formerly Roble Studio Theater) is Stanford’s newest performing arts space on campus. Created in the 2016 renovation of Roble Gym, Roble is a large 6540 square-foot black-box theater with flexible seating arrangements. This space is managed by TAPS.

Roble Studio 113

Roble Studio 113 is a 5220 square-foot rehearsal space. Complete with a sprung floor, this studio features a built-in balcony and customizable seating arrangements. This space is managed by TAPS.

Pigott Theater

Pigott Theater is located in Memorial Hall across from Lathrop Library. The stage covers 1380 square feet behind a 28 foot-wide proscenium, and seating is available for up to 192 audience members. Pigott is equipped with a trapped floor, theatrical lighting, rigging, curtains, projection, and sound systems. A 560 square-foot green room and several dressing rooms also accompany Pigott Theater. This space is managed by TAPS.

 

Events in Pigott Theater are made possible through the Pigott Fund for Drama.

Nitery Theater

Nitery Theater is located in Old Union. An intimate black box theater, the Nitery is 1820 square feet with a maximum seating capacity that ranges from 71 to 83. Theatrical lighting, projection, and sound systems are all available in the Nitery. Additionally, a 273 square-foot dressing room with a restroom and 112 square-foot backstage area accompany the space. This space is managed by TAPS and the Experimental Nitery Studio Board.

Memorial Auditorium

Memorial Auditorium is Stanford’s largest indoor performance space. Located on Serra Mall, across from Hoover Tower, Memorial Auditorium features a 4,780-square-foot stage behind a 40 foot-wide proscenium, and orchestra and balcony seating for up to 1711 audience members. A state-of-the-art performance venue, the main stage is equipped with an orchestra pit, theatrical lighting, rigging, curtains, projection, and sound systems. A 560-square-foot green room and several dressing rooms also accompany the space. Requests to reserve Memorial Auditorium must be made through the Registrar’s Office.
