Queer curatorship is an experimental display method that stages alternative spatial configurations in order to expose how racialized heteronormativity structures everyday environments. Tyburczy discusses her theory of Queer Curatorship, drawing from her first book Sex Museums: The Politics and Performance of Disiplay, and highlighting applications of that theory in praxis across museum and performance contexts.
ABOUT JENNIFER TYBURCZY. Jennifer Tyburczy is Associate Professor of Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is the author of the Lambda Literary Award-winning book Sex Museums: the Politics and Performance of Display (University of Chicago Press, 2016). Tyburczy is currently writing her second monograph, Sex after NAFTA: The Queer Traffic of Free Trade.
