CAPSTONE | “SNOW IN MIDSUMMER”
FRIDAY APRIL 29 @ 4:30PM (DOORS CLOSE AT 4:20PM )
PIGOTT THEATER IN MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | RSVP HERE
TAPS Senior Mai Lan Nguyen presents a staged reading of Snow in Midsummer — an experimental take on the original medieval Chinese play of the same title that bridges the traditional Confucian past of China with contemporary struggles of entering adulthood. It is filled with absurdity, archaic language, TikTok Dances and Chinese EDM music in Yuan Dynasty China.
An exploration of generational divide, familial relationships and obligations, it’s a story about the struggle of amending the individual with the collective. The play explores the themes finding your own voice in an environment that violently tries to suppress it and seeking your own footing in a world that seems to keep trying to tell you what you are.
FILMING NOTICE. This performance will be recorded for future public viewing. Cameras in the theater may incidentally capture audience images and audio in the background. Ticket reservers must alert all members of their party to this possibility and refrain from purchasing tickets before receiving their Party’s consent.
