experimental nitery studio

Starting in 2016, TAPS hands over the Nitery Theater to its students. The Nitery, an 83-seat black box theater, will be the first-ever student-run theater space at Stanford.

Through this program, TAPS aims to foster the development of new and creative ideas in performance while providing students with valuable practical experience in theater leadership.

A Managing Board composed of TAPS graduate students and undergraduate majors will lead the Experimental Nitery Studio. All programming will be selected and managed by the Board.

2017-18 SEASON APPLICATIONS

Nitery Experimental Theater (NExt) is accepting applications for its 2017-18 season!

NExT aims to present bold and relevant performance meant to challenge, transform, and cultivate meaningful artistic expression. NExT is also committed to diverse communities, aesthetics, and politics that exist within the Stanford community. By building connections between student-artists and the Department of Theater and Performance Studies, NExT intends to foster performance as an integral forum for community conversation. Performance at NExT may be raw, political, provocative, or even playful. NExT is not a new home for performance; NExT uses performance to make Stanford a new kind of home.

NExT is soliciting applications for performances, plays, and installations around the theme of displacement. How do we as a culture respond to the ongoing realities of migration, immigration, exile, deportation, alienation, and imprisonment, in both concrete and abstract ways?

Applications are due Thursday, April 20th, 2017.

Application

Interested in applying? Join us for our info session on Thursday, March 2nd at 4-5PM in Nitery Theater.
